Champaign County Search & Rescue

On Friday, May 11^th, a presentation for the media was held to bring public awareness on the creation of the first Champaign County Search and Rescue Team.  Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh and Champaign County Emergency Management Agency Director John Carlson have joined their respective agencies together to establish a county wide Search and Rescue Team. The end goal is to train teams of volunteers to be at the ready to perform search and rescue of persons, assist in the recovery of bodies, assist Law Enforcement with evidence recovery, support disaster area operations, and promote safety.  This Search and Rescue Team will be units of County government cooperating with citizens to establish a service that benefits taxpayers at very little cost.
